PORTAL UPDATE: Michigan State lands former Valdosta State WR Rodney Bullard

Michigan State received some surprise portal news Thursday afternoon, adding transfer portal wide receiver Rodney Bullard, formerly of Division-II Valdosta State. Bullard announced his decision via social media.

Bullard (6-0, 170) is a product of Albany (Ga.) Westover High School. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

The Albany, Ga., native caught 42 passes for 1,001 yards and 13 touchdowns in 14 games last season. Bullard logged 44 receptions for 566 yards and seven touchdowns in 14 games as a redshirt freshman in 2023.

Bullard also has experience on special teams, logging 433 career kick return yards on 17 attempts, including a 99-yard touchdown. He scored 20 total touchdowns in 28 games with Valdosta State.

Bullard represents yet another new option for quarterback Aidan Chiles and wide receivers coach Courtney Hawkins in Michigan State’s receiving room. Bullard joins Omari Kelly Jr. (Middle Tennessee), Evan Boyd (Central Michigan) and Crishon McCray (Kent State) as the Spartans’ wide receiver additions through the portal this offseason.

Those three will play alongside rising sophomores Nick Marsh, Jaylan Brown and Austin Clay. The Spartans also signed three-star wide receivers Charles Taplin and Braylon Collier to their 2025 class.
