Michigan State landed another commitment in the 2023 Spartan class when 6-foot-3, 195-pound athlete Sean Brown committed to the Spartans on Friday afternoon.

Brown is being recruited as a defensive back, but his long frame and good ball skills have intrigued college wide receiver coaches, as well. He has been committed to Arizona as a defensive back since late-June, but flipped to Michigan State on Friday.

Michigan State offered Brown on Dec. 6. Spartan coaches quickly secured an official visit, getting him on campus Dec. 9. Despite his commitment to the Wildcats, Michigan State was able to flip Brown rather quickly.

He announced his commitment via social media:

The newest Spartan commit is close with another 2023 target, Jaelon Barbarin. The pair spent the weekend together in East Lansing. Both hailing from Simi Valley (CA), Brown and Barbarin have been good friends since they were nine years old. They committed to Michigan State together after their official visits.

Another connection to the Spartan program includes his mother, who grew up in the Kalamazoo (MI) area. Brown still has family in the state.

“I loved it,” Brown said of the snow in East Lansing. “I was not sure if I would be a fan of it but the different scenery was beautiful to see. I made my first snowball and I felt like a kid. I think I would enjoy it. Life is always about adapting. It is just something to get used to. We will all be going through the same thing so I won’t be the only one who has to deal with it.”

During the photoshoot on Friday (Dec. 9) evening, Brown knew he was ready to be a Spartan.

“It was nice, it was amazing,” Brown said. “The thing that stuck out to me the most was seeing that Big Ten logo on the shirt. It made me feel a little more special with that big of a conference.”

Brown is ranked the No. 1142 overall, the No. 176 wide receiver, and the No. 99 recruit in California in the 2023 class by the On3 Consensus ranking

The Michigan State 2023 class now ranks 19th in country by the On3 Consensus team rankings.
