Selfless senior DT Maverick Hansen eager to play his role on improved Michigan State d-line

Senior defensive tackle Maverick Hansen played too many snaps to the point of exhaustion in 2022. He did so without complaining. Entering the 2023 season, Hansen is a trusted leader on a Michigan State defensive line that is deeper, bigger, and stronger than it was a year ago. In that leadership role, Hansen wants to set the tone for effort and energy as a senior. "This extra depth that allows us to play free because with the guys behind us we can go get our three, four plays in, go as hard as we can, come off the field and let the other guys go in there and there’s not really a big drop off," Hansen said. "That's the big thing that we're working on this year, making sure the first string and third rotation guys are all the same because at the end of the day, we're all starters.’’
