EAST LANSING, Mich. – In a special Selection Sunday edition of SpartanMag LIVE!, Jim Comparoni and Paul Konyndyk take an in-depth look at Michigan State’s NCAA Tournament draw, heading into the Spartans’ First Round matchup against Bryant University.

Comparoni provides a breakdown of Bryant’s starting lineup, and why the Bulldogs present some problems in terms of size, experience and 3-point shooting capabilities. Comparoni analyzes Bryant’s schedule, their outcomes against Power Five and mid-major opponents in the past two years, as well as the American Conference’s recent history in the NCAA Tournament.

Konyndyk chimes in with input on No. 10 seed New Mexico, coached by Richard Pitino. The Lobos will face No. 7 seed Marquette, for the potential opportunity to face the Spartans in the Second Round on Sunday.

Comparoni and Konyndyk also discuss Michigan State’s 1-1 showing at the Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis. Comparoni theorizes that the Spartans came home from Indianapolis a better team than they were last week, due to the continued development of Jaxon Kohler and Jeremy Fears. The next question is whether Izzo can get the Spartans to dial in more tighly on the details.

Comparoni and Konyndyk take a look at the 68-team bracket as a whole, including the obstacles that lay ahead for Big Ten teams in the NCAA Tournament. Comparoni raises the point that Wisconsin would have been better off losing to Michigan State, than playing a tired fourth game in four days on Sunday, with the task of getting on a flight Tuesday for a trip to Denver for a Thursday game against Montana. Comparoni also says that Maryland, a good team with little depth, was better off losing to Michigan on Saturday than playing on Sunday in the Big Ten Tournament Championship Game.
