REACTION: Tom Izzo praises Spartans’ bench after statement victory over Purdue

EAST LANSING, Mich. - There was nothing vengeful about Michigan State’s overdue need to staple a loss on Purdue, Tuesday night. But there could have been. The Boilermakers had beaten Michigan State in nine of their last 10 meetings. It’s enough to make the Spartans hate Purdue. But they don’t. Tom Izzo doesn’t. The players don’t. Izzo spoke all week in glowing terms about Purdue’s culture and penchant for “doing things the right way.” So when Michigan State broke the spell and defeated Purdue 75-66 in impressive, convincing fashion at Breslin Center on Tuesday night, there wasn’t a feeling of clinched-fist vindication. Just satisfaction. “Understand this: This team has owned us,” Izzo said. INSIDE: More comments from Izzo, and analysis from SpartanMag.com.
