Former UConn tailback Nathan Carter feels blessed with the opportunity to prove himself against better competition in the Big Ten as a first-year transfer at Michigan State. Carter dreams of having the type of success that Kenneth Walker III did in making the move from Wake Forest to Michigan State in 2021. Walker's dream season at Michigan State will difficult replicate and it would be unfair to saddle Carter with similar expectations. Be that as it may, Carter has done some positive things to this point in spring football, and may be able to fill a key role in the RB rotation for the Spartans. Offensive coordinator Jay Johnson is bullish on Carter's future at Michigan State. “I have been very pleased so far with some of the newcomers,” Johnson said. “Nate Carter has done some very positive things. He is still transitioning a little bit with a new scheme and things of that nature, and that sneaks up on him occasionally. But as far as his skillset and what he does with the ball in his hands, and he has also shown some very positive things in pass protection. He has done some very good things.”
