EAST LANSING, Mich. - When Tre Holloman was sobbing in the Michigan State locker room after the Spartans’ loss to Auburn on Sunday in the NCAA Tournament, he was tearful like an outgoing senior who knew his run with this team was over.  It didn’t strike me that way at the time. But when I think back about it, when an underclassman loses a game like that, even after a season-worst performance, they usually talk about being driven and determined to come back the next year and go further with his teammates.  Holloman was crushed about his own performance, and for letting his team down.  “I love my team, I love the coaches, I love this school,” he said.  That’s a poignant farewell type of statement for a junior. “We didn’t get it done but I’m proud of everybody, literally everybody,” he said. “Bro, this is a special place.” That sounds like a guy who knew he had just played his last game at Michigan State. Like a guy who doesn’t want to leave Michigan State, but knows he has to, for business reasons, for family reasons. (More Inside)
