2023 On300 DL Joel Starlings commits to Michigan
2023 Benedictine defensive lineman Joel Starlings committed to his “dream school” on Sunday night following a visit to Michigan to see the Wolverines defeat Ohio State.
Starlings, who ranks as the No. 230 prospect in the On300 and the No. 225 prospect in the On3 Consensus rankings, committed to Michigan over the likes of Penn State, Georgia, Texas A&M and Wisconsin.
Starlings told On3’s Chad Simmons over the weekend that Michigan had been his favorite since receiving the offer.
“Honestly, Michigan has been my favorite since I got the offer. After this game though, my commitment has moved up to an earlier date. I have been in love with Michigan for a long time.”

Starlings decided to commit after visiting to see Michigan defeat Ohio State in front of over 110,000 fans in The Big House, saying that “everything” about Michigan stands out.
“The campus, the coaching staff, the history of the program is amazing,” he said.
“The visit was amazing,” Starlings said to On3’s Chad Simmons. “The game. The atmosphere. Everything was amazing. The environment was like a family atmosphere and it felt like family.”
Starlings is the second commit in the 2023 class for the Wolverines, after kicker Adam Samaha pledged to Michigan on Friday.
