Recruitment
Michigan offered Underwood as a middle schooler and got him on campus on several occasions. However, Underwood always had a wandering eye for the south and gave LSU a verbal commitment. Michigan worked hard to get back in the Underwood race this fall and was able to flip him away from the Tigers, thanks in large part to a person push from head coach Sherrone Moore and a change in NIL strategy. Underwood made the flip official less than a month before signing day.
He Said It
“I’m proving myself right now. Knowing that I’m still going to give 100 percent to the team every time I play a game. I feel like I’m one of the best in the country, no matter what class, honestly. I work hard and will do whatever it takes to win.”

They Said It
“Most importantly, with Bryce, he has a ton of courage. His pocket presence, ability to throw the football on time, command the offense and offensive line, along with understanding protections. Making slide adjustments and having situational awareness is really impressive from him.” — QB trainer Donovan Dooley
Scouting Report
“Underwood has explosive arm talent that immediately stood out as a high school underclassman. There has been a legitimate ‘wow factor’ to watching him throw the ball on Friday nights. He employs considerable torque to uncoil his long arms, resulting in a whippy motion that produces very high RPM’s on the football. Quite simply, the ball jumps out of his hand. Underwood is able to touch all areas of the field with his arm strength. He can push the ball vertically 60+ yards downfield and makes far hash throws look routine. The new Michigan commit is equally lethal in working the quick game and RPO’s, with his tight spiral and high spin rate producing rare juice on the tail of his passes.” — On3 Rankings Director Charles Power
