Bio Blast: Meet five-star Michigan quarterback signee Bryce Underwood

Five-star Belleville (Mich.) High quarterback Bryce Underwood officially signed with Michigan on Wednesday.

The Skinny

Senior Stats: Completed 71.8 percent (125-174) of his passes for 2,321 yards, 30 touchdowns and five interceptions. Also rushed for 568 yards and five touchdowns.
Industry Ranking: No. 1 quarterback, No. 1 overall
Interesting Facts: Highest ranked Michigan signee since Green Bay Packers defensive end Rashan Gary. Led Belleville to a Michigan high school state championship as a freshman. Released his own T-shirt with Barstool Sports.

Recruitment

Michigan offered Underwood as a middle schooler and got him on campus on several occasions. However, Underwood always had a wandering eye for the south and gave LSU a verbal commitment. Michigan worked hard to get back in the Underwood race this fall and was able to flip him away from the Tigers, thanks in large part to a person push from head coach Sherrone Moore and a change in NIL strategy. Underwood made the flip official less than a month before signing day.

He employs considerable torque to uncoil his long arms, resulting in a whippy motion that produces very high RPM’s on the football. Quite simply, the ball jumps out of his hand. Underwood is able to touch all areas of the field with his arm strength. He can push the ball vertically 60+ yards downfield and makes far hash throws look routine.
