Senior Stats: 38 total tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss, 6 interceptions, 8 passes defended, 2 fumble recoveries in 12 games this season at Monroe HS
Industry Ranking: No. 172 overall, No. 13 interior safety, No. 6 in North Carolina
Interesting Facts: Michigan sees Young as a potential nickel/Rod Moore type in terms of what he adds to this recruiting class, which will be an emphasis for the team as it recruits the back end of its defense for years to come.
Recruitment
Young had a Top 3 of Michigan, Clemson and NC State going into his decision last month. However, NIL and distance seemed to be working against the Wolverines. Michigan was able to get over the distance hurdle, and obviously, the Wolverines have stepped up with NIL. Aside from the mega-deal for Underwood, Michigan has been putting together quality packages together for high end recruits like Young this cycle.

He Said It
“What excites me most about Michigan is the opportunity to be part of such a legendary program and contribute to its legacy. The coaches, the team culture, and the resources here are amazing, both athletically and academically. I’m excited about the chance to develop as a player and a student, and to represent a school with such a great tradition.”
They Said It
“There’s nothing you can say negative about him,” Monroe High School coach Johnny Sowell said when describing Jordan Young. “When coaches come in, the first thing they say, ‘Can he do this, can he do that,’ and I say everything checks out. I’ve been coaching for nearly 40 years, and we’ve had some great players come through here. We still have one playing in the NFL in Jamison Crowder. Jordan has a chance to be one of the best to ever play here. He’s a special talent who works hard.”
