Newsstand: Bryce Underwood poses with Connor Stalions at tailgate
No. 1 overall recruit Bryce Underwood‘s commitment to the Michigan Wolverines threw the college football world into a frenzy after his flip from LSU this week. As the dust settled, U-M’s new star recruit made his way to Ann Arbor for an official visit with plenty of buzz that more talent could be on the way.
But the moment that broke the internet on Saturday came from Wolverines Wire’s Isaiah Hole, who caught a picture of Underwood of former Michigan staffer Connor Stalions at a tailgate prior to the 50-6 win over Northwestern.
Underwood is the near-consensus top overall recruit in the 2025 class with all major recruiting services except for Rivals rating him as the No. 1 player in the country. Rivals has him at No. 2 behind Ohio State quarterback commit Tavien St. Clair.

“Touts a big-time arm with the ability to drive the ball with velocity to all levels of the field,” his On3 scouting report reads. “Has the ability to touch every area of the field with ease. Throws a very tight spiral that amplifies the velocity on the tail of his passes. Has shown advanced skill as a passer. Comfortable delivering over the middle of the field from within the pocket. Consistently sticks the ball on receivers against tight coverage. Shows the ability to layer passes with touch and high-level location, especially downfield.”

Michigan quote of the day
“We really locked into the little things. We called it buy-in week. Again, I said that was Max Bredesen’s idea. I’m not going to take the credit for that. So I thought all the guys did a really good job of doing the little things and attacking. And it really started that Monday. We had a scout team practice, and that’s probably the most energetic practice, especially on a Monday we’ve had. And then coming in after a loss, for those guys to be like that and to buy in like that meant a lot. It talks about the culture and where these guys are and where we are. They just worked on the little things, and then this week they practiced really well with a lot of energy. So it was fun to be a part of.”
