Ty Haywood is ready to make his decision.

The Top 100 offensive lineman out of Denton (Texas) Ryan will announce his commitment this morning at 9 am ET on his social media platforms.

Haywood, who is ranked as the No. 8 offensive tackle and No. 48 overall recruit nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking, is considering Michigan, Florida State and Texas Tech.

Here is a closer look at where things stand going into the decision.

Why It Will Be Michigan

All signs point to Michigan in this recruitment. In fact, Michigan has a 71.2 percent chance of landing Haywood going into his decision, per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. I’ve had my prediction in since early December and still feel extremely confident in that pick. Michigan has made a big NIL push for Haywood, and the Wolverines hosted him for an official visit last month. No other program got him on campus this winter, which is obviously a positive sign. It appears head coach Sherrone Moore, general manager Sean Magee, offensive line coach Grant Newsome and the rest of the staff have done enough to win this recruitment.

Why It Won’t Be Michigan

While all signs point to Michigan, Florida State hasn’t given up in this recruitment. The Seminoles got him on campus in the summer, and head coach Mike Norvell recently visited him at his school. Like Haywood, Norvell attended high school in the Dallas area and has a personal connection with the talented offensive lineman. Florida State has also been willing to play NIL on the recruiting trail. Texas Tech has recently revamped its NIL and is very willing to spend as well. Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire was a long-time high school coach in the Dallas area and is very close to those around the Haywood recruitment.

EJ’s Prediction

Like I previously mentioned, I feel very confident in my On3 prediction going into Haywood’s announcement. Yes, Florida State and Texas Tech have NIL to work with, but based on everything I have been able to gather, neither plans on matching Michigan. The Wolverines are investing a lot into Haywood as Moore and Magee are putting a premium on high school offensive linemen. NIL is the driving force here, but Michigan also did enough to check other boxes on his recent official visit. It would be a big surprise if Haywood didn’t side with the Wolverines later today.
