The Michigan Wolverines football momentum looks like it will continue into the week with On3’s Steve Wiltfong putting in an RPM pick for former Indiana wide receiver Donaven McCulley, who is visiting this weekend, to land in Ann Arbor as part of the 2025 team.

Michigan offered the former Indiana quarterback/wide receiver during last winter’s portal cycle. During the 2023 season, he led the Hoosiers in catches (48), yards (644) and touchdowns (6) by a wide margin this season. McCulley (6-5, 200) also threw a 44-yard touchdown in the 52-7 loss to the Wolverines last year.

Under new head coach Curt Cignetti, he struggled to find a role in the offense. McCulley had two catches for 21 yards and a touchdown on the season for Indiana. He played in four of the first five games for the Hoosiers before announcing his intention to transfer.

Head coach Sherrone Moore addressed general manager Sean Magee currently keeping an eye toward the 2025 roster and beyond during a press conference this fall.

“He’s done a great job,” Moore said. “This is a different era of football, and you’ve got to have forward thinking of what you’re doing. We’re compiling names and data, not only of college [players] but high school, and trying to build it from the high school ranks to make sure we get a core foundation of that.

“I think we’re doing a good job with this [2025] recruiting class, and we’ll continue to bring in the pieces that we need to help immediately … to replace and do things and sustain the success that we need to get. So, he’s done a really good job managing the numbers and the roster.”

Michigan quote of the day

We talk about playing with discipline and not emotion. There’s a couple times, and it happens in these rivalry games, especially this one every year. There’s always some talk, some extra things going on, and you’ve got to control that. It’s all about the emotions in the game. You can talk about it. You can do that in practice, but it’s completely different when you get in the arena with your opponents. We’ve got to do a better job of doing that, and so do they.
