Five Pennsylvania Recruits Michigan Fans Need To Know
With Michigan-Penn State week upon us, it’s a great time to look at U-M’s recruiting efforts in the state of Pennsylvania.
Once a friendly state to the Wolverines, Michigan has not pulled a recruit out of the Keystone State since 2017 when Donovan Jeter inked with U-M. However, Michigan is increasing its efforts in Pennsylvania and has a chance to build some momentum with a win at Penn State this weekend.
Here is a look at five Pennsylvania recruits Michigan fans need to know.
OL Jven Williams, Reading (Pa.) Wyomissing (2023)
An On300 prospect, Williams is one of the top interior offensive line recruits in the country. Michigan extended an offer in September and is making him a top priority for next cycle. New Director of Player Personnel Courtney Morgan has been leading the way in this recruitment with offensive line coach Sherrone Moore also involved. Williams also holds offers from Kentucky, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Penn State, South Carolina and others and seems pretty open with his process early on.
LB Semaj Bridgeman, Warminster (Pa.) Archbishop Wood (2023)
Michigan made sure to reach out to Bridgeman on Sept. 1, the first day college coaches were allowed to contact junior prospects, and put an offer on the table. At 6-foot-1, 215 pounds, Bridgeman is an athletic inside linebacker that also has experience coming off the edge. Michigan will look to make a big impression on him over the next several months. He also holds offers from Arizona State, Florida, Ole Miss, Penn State, Texas A&M and others.
LB/S Ta’Mere Robinson, Pittsburgh (Pa.) Brashear (2023)
Michigan identified Robinson fairly early, offering him in April of 2020. Since then, the Wolverines have continued to recruit him hard even with the change in defensive staff. An On300 prospect, Robinson is an intriguing hybrid linebacker/safety that could play multiple roles in Mike Macdonald’s scheme. Robinson has visited Michigan in the past and has the Wolverines in his top group along with Notre Dame, Penn State, Ohio State and a few others. Expect Robinson to make his way back to Michigan for another visit in the near future.

LB Anthony Speca, Pittsburgh (Pa.) Central Catholic (2024)
Michigan extended a scholarship to Speca in September and has his attention early on. U-M linebackers coach George Helow had a great initial call with Speca and will look to build a strong relationship with him moving forward. Notre Dame and Penn State are considered frontrunners for Speca, but Michigan has plenty of time to surge in this recruitment. The Wolverines are looking to get him on campus soon. Speca is a big, athletic backer that can play multiple spots and projects as an On300 prospect.
S Rahmir Stewart, Philadelphia (Pa.) Imhotep (2023)
Michigan extended an offer to Stewart in April and was included in his Top 12 this summer. An On300 prospect, Stewart is one of the most coveted safety prospects nationally and also named Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Penn State, Texas A&M and other major programs in his top group. Early buzz has Stewart going south for school, but he is intrigued by the idea of playing in the Big Ten. It will be interesting to see if Michigan can get him on campus and create some real movement moving forward.
Bonus:
QB Stone Saunders, Harrisburg (Pa.) Bishop McDevitt (2025)
Michigan extended an early offer to Saunders in June and hosted him for an unofficial visit this fall. Saunders is the son of Baltimore Ravens strength and conditioning coach Steve Saunders, so there is a connection to Michigan quarterbacks coach Matt Weiss, who made his way to U-M from the Ravens this offseason. Saunders also has an early offer from Maryland.
