Recruiting Q&A - 2024-06-02T131938.531

I was at the GameDay camp in Stafford, Virginia on Saturday afternoon. Here is a look at five recruits Michigan should consider offering from the event.

WR Ben Whitver, Powhattan (Va.) High (2026)

Whitver was arguably the best 2026 wide receiver prospect at the camp. At 6-foot-2, 190 pounds, Whitver is an impressive route runner with strong hands. Whitver has the skillset to play inside or outside and makes tough, contested catches look easy. Whitver’s craftiness and ability to get open is impressive, and if he can improve his straight-line speed, he could blossom into one of the East Coast’s most wanted pass catchers. Right now, he holds offers from Charlotte, Penn State, Liberty and UMass.

WR Myles McAfee, Severn (Md.) Archbishop Spalding (2027)

McAfee first caught my attention at the Under Armour camp in Baltimore and once again had a strong performance at this event. At 6-foot, 155 pounds, McAfee is a dynamic slot receiver and a terrific natural pass catcher. Through two events, it’s tough to remember McAfee not catching a ball in his vicinity. McAfee definitely needs to add some weight to his frame over the next couple of years, but he’s one of the DMV’s more impressive underclassmen. McAfee already boasts offers from Boston College, Maryland, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and others.

EDGE Ezekiel Ayangbile, Houston (Texas) Langham Creek (2027)

Ayangbile made the long trip from the Lone Star State to Northern Virginia for the camp and immediately turned heads with his size and athleticism. At 6-foot-3, 220 pounds, Ayangbile has the look of a high end EDGE prospect and moves extremely well for his size. If he gains an inch or two, he could very well be one of the most coveted pass rushers in his class. Ayangbile recently notched his first offer from Virginia Tech, and more schools should follow soon.

DB Jase Rhodes, Roanoke (Va.) North Cross (2026)

Rhodes is listed as a wide receiver but is starting to generate plenty of interest as a cornerback. In fact, he recently notched his first two offers from South Carolina and Tennessee. Roanoke is a bit off the beaten path, but once Rhodes gains more exposure, he could explode on the recruiting trail. Rhodes was impressive in 1v1s and won plenty of reps with his patience and cover skills. The 2026 recruiting class is absolutely loaded in Virginia, and Rhodes, who was named the camp DB MVP, is yet another prospect to keep an eye on.

ATH Bryson Brown, Owasso (Okla.) High (2027)

Brown is an intriguing, young athlete that could play cornerback or wide receiver at the next level depending on how he develops over the next few years. He already holds offers from Charlotte, Penn State an South Carolina and should see his scholarship list expand soon. There is a lot to like about his versatility as well as his playmaking ability.
