Former Michigan assistants Jesse Minter, Steve Clinkscale receive show causes from NCAA

Former Michigan assistant coaches Steve Clinkscale and Jesse Minter, now with the Los Angeles Chargers, have both received Show Cause penalties from the NCAA for violating recruiting rules. From the NCAA on Minter:
Former Michigan football assistant coach Jesse Minter has reached an agreement with NCAA enforcement staff about recruiting violations that occurred within the football program. A Division I Committee on Infractions panel has approved the agreement. The pending portion of the case for the school and five individuals will be considered separately by the Committee on Infractions, after which the committee will provide its full decision on the case.
The agreed-upon violations involve multiple impermissible early recruiting communications with a prospect prior to June 15 of his sophomore year of high school. Minter was aware that these communications were impermissible but did not report theviolations to the school’s compliance department.
The committee will not release or discuss further details in the case to protect the integrity of the ongoing process, as the committee’s final decision is pending. By separating the cases, the Division I Committee on Infractions publicly acknowledges the infractions case and permits Minter to immediately begin serving penalties while awaiting the committee’s final decision on the remaining contested portion of the case. That decision will include any findings and penalties for the school and the five remaining individuals.
The agreed-upon penalties in this portion of the case include … a one-year show-cause order for Minter, in which any employing institution must restrict him from any athletically-related position.

On Clinkscale: Former Michigan football assistant coach Steve Clinkscale has reached an agreement with NCAA enforcement staff about recruiting violations that occurred within the football program. A Division I Committee on Infractions panel has approved the agreement. The pending portion of the case for the school and five individuals will be considered separately by the Committee on Infractions, after which the committee will provide its full decision on the case.
The agreed-upon violations involve impermissible benefits provided to prospects and/or their families during their recruitment. Clinkscale and the enforcement staff also agreed that after his separation from Michigan, Clinkscale failed to fully satisfy his obligation to cooperate with the investigation when he did not provide complete information during an interview, though he eventually acknowledged the violations and his involvement in them.
The agreed-upon penalties in this portion of the case include: A two-year show-cause order for Clinkscale, in which any employing institution must restrict him from any athletically-related position.
Should Clinkscale be employed during the first year of his show-cause order, he will be suspended from 50% of the football regular season contests.
