Born and raised to coach Michigan, Jim Harbaugh's happy mission culminates with national title
Born Dec. 23, 1963 at Mercy Hospital in Toledo, Ohio, Jim Harbaugh was destined to be involved with the game of football, and he was nearly his entire life. At the age of four, Harbaugh — the son of longtime football coach Jack Harbaugh — declared that he would play as long as he could, then coach, then die. Harbaugh was an All-American quarterback at Michigan prior to his 15-year NFL career. He even coached on the side, in the offseason, for Jack at Western Kentucky (1994-2001), handling some recruiting duties, before becoming a full-fledged coach with the Oakland Raiders in 2002.
