The Michigan Wolverines come back home on Saturday afternoon for a showdown with the Eastern Michigan Eagles from just down the road in Ypsilanti. The contest between Washtenaw County neighbors tips off at 2:30 p.m. ET on Big Ten Network.
Michigan roared out to a 3-0 start to this season before dropping five of its next six games, losing to Long Beach State, going 1-2 at the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, followed by losses to Orego and Indiana. However, the team responded with a 90-80 win at Iowa on Sunday afternoon to even its record to 5-5 on the young season.
Eastern Michigan is out to a 5-4 start to the campaign with wins over Georgia Southern, Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, Central Arkansas and Lake Superior State. Its losses have come to Butler, Florida Atlantic, North Dakota and Oakland.

• Saturday’s game will be the first time this season that head coach Juwan Howard serves in his normal role after a 12-week recovery from heart surgery. Athletic Director Warde Manuel also announced on Friday evening that there will be no discipline for Howard or strength and conditioning coach Jon Sanderson after a reported altercation last week prior to the trip to Iowa.
• Michigan is 6-1 all-time against Eastern Michigan on the hardwood, including an 88-83 win over the Eagles last season at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
• U-M has two more games in non-conference play after Saturday’s contest – a trip to Charlotte for the Jumpman Invitational vs. Florida and a showdown with McNeese on Dec. 29 in Ann Arbor.
• Sophomore point guard Dug McDaniel leads the team in scoring at 18.6 points per game and assists at 5.1 per contest. Graduate forward Olivier Nkamhoua leads with 7.1 rebounds.
