Live updates: Michigan vs. Maryland
• Michigan ran out the clock to close out its 1,000th win — 31-24.
• 4Q, 1:53 — Michigan went for it on fourth down from the Maryland 38-yard line and picked up the first down with Blake Corum, just barely after a measurement and video review (play stands). Maryland has just one timeout left.
• 4Q, 3:38 — Taulia Tagovailoa is called for intentional grounding in the end zone, resulting in Michigan’s second forced safety of the game. The Wolverines lead 31-24 and have the ball at the Maryland 47-yard line after a pooch kick.
• 4Q, 4:19 — Thanks in part to a holding call on Trente Jones — who’s in at right tackle off the bench due to a Myles Hinton injury and Karsen Barnhart switching to left tackle — Michigan was backed up for 3rd and 20 and didn’t convert. Tommy Doman’s punt bounced and stuck at the 1-yard line, pinning Maryland back. The Wolverines hold a 29-234 lead, and it’s up to the defense to come up with another stop.
• 4Q, 5:32 — After a Kenneth Grant sack that backed Maryland up, Taulia Tagovailoa threw the ball up on third and long, and Mike Sainristil came away with his second interception of the game. Michigan ball at the 39-yard line.
• 4Q, 8:37 — The Michigan defense comes up with a third-down stop thanks to a sack from Mason Graham. Braiden McGregor was there with the initial pressure. After a short punt, U-M takes over at the 50-yard line up 29-24.
• 4Q, 12:05 — J.J. McCarthy was sacked on third down and hit hard on third (left tackle Karsen Barnhart allowed pressure) — completing a pass but short of the first down — and the Wolverines punt. Tommy Doman’s kick went into the end zone for a touchback. Maryland ball at its own 20-yard line.
• End of the third quarter: Michigan 29, Maryland 24
• 3Q, 1:17 — Maryland picked up a 3rd and 11 with a screen pass and continued to drive. Mike Sainristil was burned for a big gain. Will Johnson then was in coverage on a deep ball to wideout Kaden Prather, down to the 1-yard line. On the second quarterback sneak with Billy Edwards, he got in after being stopped on the first. Following the extra point, Michigan’s lead is 29-24.
• 3Q, 4:04 — After Michigan went for it on 4th and 3 and forwent kicking a 41-yard field goal (Colston Loveland pass from J.J. McCarthy picked it up), Semaj Morgan ran and end-around for a 13-yard score. The Wolverines went for a two-point conversion and didn’t get it, throwing a fade to AJ Barner in the end zone that was broken up.
• 3Q, 7:33 — Maryland started to move the ball again on its next drive, but Taulia Tagovailoa threw an interception to Mike Sainristil along the Maryland sideline at the Michigan 49-yard line, a big play for the Wolverines.
• 3Q, 8:28 — Michigan goes three-and-out for the second time today, and Maryland has the ball with the chance to take the lead (with a TD and extra point). Three straight runs for the Maize and Blue on that series.
• 3Q, 10:23 — Maryland scores another fourth-down touchdown with a quarterback sneak from backup Billy Edwards, with two backs pushing behind him. Maryland’s drive goes 9 plays and 78 yards. Michigan’s lead is now just 23-17.
• HALF: Michigan 23, Maryland 10. The Terrapins will receive to begin the second half.
• 2Q, 0:18 — Michigan executed its two-minute drive in getting down near the goal line at the Maryland 7. But J.J. McCarthy, firing into the end zone, was picked off at the 1-yard line by Jaishawn Barnham, who returned it to the Maryland 11. The Terps kneeled out the clock to go into halftime.
• 2Q, 1:59 — It took Maryland until fourth down at the goal line, but backup quarterback Billy Edwards sneaked in a touchdown with two running backs pushing behind him, making the score 23-10.

• 2Q, 7:59 — Blake Corum with his second touchdown of the day and 51st rushing score of his career. The Wolverines finished off a 16-play, 64-yard drive with the score and now lead 23-3.
• End of first quarter: Michigan 16, Maryland 3.
• 1Q, 0:32 — The Maryland punt is blocked by Christian Boivin. The ball rolled into the end zone and the Maryland punted booted it out of the back of the end zone for a safety. Michigan will receive a kick from the 20-yard line.
• 1Q, 2:00 — On 3rd and 10, Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa was immediately pressured, Michael Barrett stripped him and Derrick Moore recovered it and ran it to the house for a touchdown. Michigan leads 14-3.
• On Wilson’s big catch, he appeared to be hit in the head, but the refs reviewed and called off the targeting penalty that was originally implemented. Wilson was in the medical tent and is now in the locker room.
• 1Q, 2:19 — Blake Corum punches in a Michigan touchdown from two yards out. The Wolverines drove 65 yards in nine plays, sparked by a 23-yard pass over the middle to Roman Wilson on the first play.
• 1Q, 6:29 — Maryland puts together an impressive first drive of the game, driving 57 yards in 11 plays, but Michigan came up with a third-down stop after Taulia Tagovailoa scrambled but didn’t get enough to move the chains. After the 35-yard field goal, the Terrapins lead, 3-0.
• 1Q, 12:50 — Michigan goes three-and-out, after running twice and Cornelius Johnson coming less than a yard away from picking up the first on a third-down pass toward the sideline. Maryland took over on its own 26-yard line.
• Maryland has won the toss and chose to defer its choice to the second half. Michigan will receive to begin the game.

Michigan also won three non-conference matchups against the Terrapins in 1985, 1989 and 1990. The Wolverines defeated Maryland 34-27 last season on Sept. 24, 2022 in Ann Arbor.
