Newsstand: Desmond Howard undergoes surgery to remove tumor
Former Michigan football legend, Heisman Trophy winner and ESPN college football analyst Desmond Howard had successful surgery on Monday to remove a tumor from his middle finger, he posted on social media.
ESPN declined to comment on the procedure, per Sports Illustrated.
“Doc said the surgery went well, the tumor was removed,” Howard wrote on Instagram with pictures of him directly following the operation. “But as you can see, I am still in the clouds. Middle finger back in action in no time!”
No timetable is available or the type of procedure that was done on the former Michigan star, but our well wishes are sent his way for a speedy recovery.

Michigan quote of the day
“Just playing on time, playing in rhythm, taking what’s given to him and not forcing things. Surgical is the best way to describe it. He knows where he is going with the football and is super decisive with it. That really impressed me. I think some credit goes to coach [Kirk] Campbell. He’s done a really good job of kind of helping us play on time and playing with rhythm.
“I think that’s the biggest thing going in the year is just if we keep doing what we’re doing, I think QBs as a whole had a really good spring and just keep doing what we’re doing. It’s gonna be scary.”
