Sources informed TheWolverine.com tonight that quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator Matt Weiss has been placed on administrative leave, but didn’t say why. ESPN.com shed some more light in a story this evening, saying school police informed them it is investigating “a report of computer access crimes” against the Michigan assistant.

Weiss has not been with the team or in the building recently. Our E.J. Holland was told by recruits today that Weiss had not been in touch with them even though he was supposed to be their primary recruiter.
In a statement to ESPN, Weiss said, “I am aware of the ongoing investigation by the University of Michigan police department and fully cooperating with investigators. I look forward to the matter being resolved.
“Out of respect for the integrity of the investigation, I will not have any further comment.”
ESPN.com reporters said neighbors of Weiss told them last week several unmarked cars showed up outside Weiss’ home in what appeared to be “some type of police presence.”

Weiss joined Jim Harbaugh’s staff after 12 seasons (2009-20) with the Baltimore Ravens under Harbaugh’s brother, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, Jim Harbaugh’s older brother. He worked for Jim Harbaugh as a graduate assistant at Stanford (2005-08). He made a $600,000 base salary in 2021 and signed a three-year contract extension in early 2022 that bumped his pay to $850,000 each year through Jan. 10, 2025.
Weiss also received a $100,000 bonus since the Wolverines finished among the Big Ten’s top two scoring offenses (second to Ohio State) and another $100,000 for the offense finishing among the nation’s top 10 (sixth). He also earned another $200,000 since Michigan exceeded the 9-win plateau.
