Michigan basketball's full 2023-24 schedule officially revealed

The Michigan Wolverines men’s basketball program will have a much different look to it this season, and now we know what the slate of games will look like. The Big Ten announced the full conference schedule on Tuesday afternoon with play beginning against Indiana at home on Dec. 5.

Michigan will head to Iowa from there for a Dec. 10 showdown with the Hawkeyes. Conference play begins in full on Jan. 4 with a home game against Minnesota.

The Wolverines will head to The Palestra on Jan. 7 for a matchup with Penn State before heading to Maryland on Jan. 11. Back-to-back home games follow on Jan. 15 and 19 against Ohio State and Illinois, respectively. Michigan closes out the month with a road game at Purdue on Jan. 23, a home rematch with Iowa on Jan. 27 and a trip to East Lansing to take on Michigan State on Jan. 30.

February starts with a pair of home games against Rutgers and Wisconsin on Feb. 3 and Feb. 7 before back-to-back road trips to Nebraska (Feb. 10) and Illinois (Feb. 13). U-M hosts MSU for a rematch on Feb. 17 before heading to Northwestern on Feb. 22. The month closes out with a home game against Purdue and a road trip to Rutgers.

Michigan closes out the regular season with a March 3 road trip to Ohio State and concludes the regular season at home against Nebraska on March 10. The Big Ten Tournament gets going on March 13 from Target Center in Minneapolis.

Here is how the locations break down for each of the conference games.

  • Home: Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin
  • Away: Maryland, Northwestern, Penn State
  • Home/Away: Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ohio State, Purdue, Rutgers

The regular season kicks off with a home date against UNC Asheville on Nov. 7 with a showdown with Youngstown State at home on Nov. 10. From there, Michigan will head to Madison Square Garden in New York City for a Gavitt Tipoff Games matchup with St. John’s.

Michigan returns home on Nov. 17 for a game against Long Beach State and then heads to the Bahamas for the Battle 4 Atlantis event that features Arkansas, Memphis, North Carolina, Northern Iowa, Stanford, Texas Tech and Villanova. The Wolverines will play three games in three days over the Thanksgiving holiday week from Nov. 22-24. The Wolverines won the event in 2019 in head coach Juwan Howard‘s first season on the job.

Michigan heads to Oregon on Dec. 2 to repay their end of the deal in a home-and-home series. The Ducks came to Ann Arbor and won 71-70 in the first game of the contract back in 2019. U-M’s next scheduled game is set for Dec. 16 at home against Eastern Michigan before heading to Charlotte, North Carolina for the Jumpman Invitational game against Florida.

The Wolverines close out the non-conference slate with a home game against McNeese on Dec. 29.

The Wolverines went 18-16 last season, missing the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2015 and splitting the games they played in the NIT with a win over Toledo and a loss at Vanderbilt. The goal is to get back to the tournament in 2023-24 and get some momentum back for Howard.
