Michigan basketball announces addition of Seton Hall transfer Tray Jackson
Former Seton Hall forward Tray Jackson committed to Michigan Wolverines basketball April 7. Just over two months later, head coach Juwan Howard and Co. have officially announced his addition.
The Maize and Blue welcomed former Tennessee forward Olivier Nkamhoua to the program Wednesday. The Wolverines have another transfer commitment in former Alabama guard Nimari Burnett, who’s stated his intention to graduate from UA this summer in order to be immediately eligible.
A Detroit native, the 6-foot-10 Jackson adds plenty of experience to the Michigan roster.
“Tray’s experiences, leadership and versatility makes him a very important addition for us,” Howard said in a statement. “We want him to continue to develop and grow his game, but we also need him to help his brothers with their games and skillsets. We just love his adaptability, which creates positive outcomes on both ends of the floor. He brings so much energy and has a great mind for the game.”
“When the opportunity to continue my career came up, I knew it was something I wanted to explore,” Jackson said. “When Juwan called, the chance to play under him, and do that in my home state and near my family, made it an easy decision. I want to make an impact, but I also want to serve and do whatever I can to help this program be successful.”

A former top-100 recruit, Jackson began his career at Missouri in 2019-20 before moving on to Seton Hall from 2020-22.

Jackson averaged 6.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game as a junior in 2021-22. He contributed 6.5 points and 2.2 boards per contest last season, playing mostly as a big man out of necessity.
Jackson is a career 34.7-percent three-point shooter (52-of-150) who has been over 37 percent each of the last two seasons — 38.3 (31-of-81) in 2022 and 37.5 (15-of-40) in 2023.
Jackson notched 13 points and 6 rebounds against Michigan at Crisler Center two years ago in a Pirates win. He had a handful of double-digit scoring gamest this season, including 15 on 3-for-3 three-point shooting in a win over Butler.
He’s never averaged more than 18.1 minutes per game in a season, but may get more opportunity with Michigan this coming winter.
