Wolverine TV podcast with Ant Wright: Breaking down Michigan win over MSU, Hunter Dickinson's iconic performance
Michigan Wolverines basketball dominated Michigan State en route to an 87-70 win over the Spartans Tuesday night at Crisler Center. TheWolverine.com’s Clayton Sayfie was joined by college basketball analyst and former Michigan player Ant Wright to break down the entire game, which included an iconic, 33-point performance from sophomore center Hunter Dickinson.
We discussed what Dickinson meant to Michigan from both an attitude and scoring output standpoint, especially in the second half when he posted 21 points. We also talked about the lift that the bench gave Michigan in the first half. Due to foul trouble, both freshman guard Frankie Collins and sophomore forward Terrance Williams II were thrust into big roles and delivered. Collins dished out four assists and played stellar defense, while Williams connected on three triples to help the Maize and Blue lead by 16 at halftime.
Michigan will practice Wednesday and have a quick turnaround before Thursday’s home game against Iowa, which the Wolverines beat in Iowa City a couple weeks back. Thursday is also senior night, where Michigan will honor Adrien Nunez, Brandon Johns Jr. and fifth-year senior guard DeVante’ Jones.
The Maize and Blue finish the regular season at Ohio State Sunday, before competing in the Big Ten Tournament. Michigan’s seed for the conference tournament is not decided yet, of course, but the most likely is that they’ll wind up as either a No. 7 or No. 8 seed, avoiding a Wednesday night game but not quite getting a double bye to the quarterfinals on Friday.
