Wolverine TV podcast: Ant Wright on playing on the road at MSU, Michigan's win streak, more
TheWolverine.com’s Clayton Sayfie is joined by former Michigan Wolverines basketball player Ant Wright, On3 and The Wolverine’s college hoops analyst, to break down U-M’s 72-70 win over Northwestern Wednesday night, preview the upcoming matchup with Michigan State at the Jack Breslin Student Events Center and more.
Wright broke down what to anticipate out of the Saturday showdown.
“Hunter [Dickinson] cannot wait for this matchup,” Wright said. “I believe Hunter has had this matchup circled for a long time. I think he sees the tweets about Bingham’s going to put him in a trash can or he’s on Bingham’s shoulders and all that stuff. Bingham has been one of the better defenders in the league this year. I’ll put him at No. 2 or No. 3, in terms of being a lockdown defender.
“I’m going to be interested to see how Izzo is going to guard him — where are they going to send their traps from? Are they going to send traps? Are they going to leave Bingham on an island? They probably noticed that Hunter was much better getting trapped than he was in one-on-one against Northwestern. So they may one-on-one him initially. I think Hunter has to abuse that matchup, stay out of foul trouble.
“They can’t let their shooters get off, either. And they have to keep the guards out of the paint.
“Michigan hasn’t been great this year at turning teams over, either, something that Michigan State does at a very high clip. And they’re just going to have to figure out — just like against Northwestern — how to will this team to a victory.

“They’re not going to win this game pretty. This isn’t going to be a game like against Indiana, where Indiana played a bit soft. Michigan State will not play soft at home. Not in this game. Never, ever. Not as long as Izzo is there. Ever. This game is not for the meek, the weak. You’ve got to be ready to go. Everybody — even Brandon Johns, if he’s out of the dog house, we’ll see if he plays in possibly his last time going to East Lansing.”
