WATCH: Michigan basketball assistant Kyle Church, players preview Wake Forest
ANN ARBOR – The Michigan Wolverines are 1-0 after a 101-53 win against Cleveland State and hit the road for the first time on Sunday afternoon to take on Wake Forest in Greensboro, North Carolina. The contest is a matchup of NCAA Tournament hopefuls on a somewhat neutral court and the first game in a series that will see Wake Forest come to Detroit to play in 2025.
Michigan assistant coach/general manager Kyle Church, along with forwards Will Tschetter and Sam Walters met with the media on Friday to preview Sunday’s matchup.
the headliners are the two guards, who can score the ball,” Church said. “Super talented, All-ACC, potential All-American type candidates. They have a nice rotation of big athletic guys as well. They got some shooting on the wings, so they’re a handful offensively. I know they haven’t quite probably hit on all cylinders these first two games like they’re capable of, but we have our hands full and we’re going to have to play a really, really sound game.”

Michigan Assistant Coach/General Manager Kyle Church
Sunday’s game will be a homecoming for Church, who is a North Carolina native that has seen plenty of games in Greensboro.
“I’ve probably been to at least 30 games at the Greensboro Coliseum,” he said. “They used to play in the ACC tournament there basically every year. Which was an hour from when I lived in Charlotte, an hour from when I lived in Durham. It’ll be a cool feeling being down on the court for the first time.

“More so than that, just our team having to play a really, really good Wake Forest basketball team. Good, really well coached really talented. Getting the challenge of that and then being at home is just a bonus for me personally.”
Redshirt junior forward Will Tschetter
“We said it coming into the season that it was gonna be fun to play and fun to watch and feel like through our two exhibitions and then the other night on Monday, it was kind of been pretty on par,” Tschetter said of Michigan’s offense.
“It’s pretty positionless with our players. I think we have a lot of versatility and that kind of plays into our offense. Coach May is really good at being able to adapt to the players he has. And that’s just kind of what he saw. It’s what’s worked.”
Sophomore forward Sam Walters
“I’m really excited,” Walters said of the showdown with Wake Forest. “They got some really good players. My former teammate plays for them as well. So I’m really excited to play against guys that I know and a really good team. I think it’s going to be a good test for us, especially early in the season to play a good team in their home state.”
Sunday’s game tips off at 1 p.m. ET and will be broadcast via ESPN2.
