The Michigan Wolverines are a shoo-in for the 2025 NCAA Tournament and have been for awhile, a stark contrast from the last few seasons. The question is now about where they end up, and how high or low their tournament seeding might be.

Michigan is preparing for a tough two-game stretch to end the season with Maryland in town on Wednesday night and a trip to East Lansing on Sunday. Their trajectory could go a number of ways pending the results of those games and the upcoming Big Ten Tournament.

Here is a look at what a handful of outlets project for Michigan’s NCAA Tournament destiny.

Bracket Matrix

Michigan currently sits on the 4-seed line on the 2025 Bracket Matrix, which compiles brackets from 128 of the site’s qualified outlets. U-M’s average seed sits at 3.94, appearing as high as a No. 3 seed and as low as a 6th seed.

Below is a look at where a few key outlets have them as of Wednesday morning.

ESPN’s Joe Lunardi

Lunardi’s most recent projection has Michigan as a No. 4 seed in the West Region, kicking things off against No. 13 seed Chattanooga in Seattle. The winner would face No. 5 Missouri or No. 12 Yale. Tennessee, Michigan State and Texas Tech are the top three seeds in the region, respectively.

CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm

Palm is one of the bracketologists highest on Michigan entering its final two games of the regular season, putting them on the three-seed line. In his bracket, he has the Wolverines heading to the Midwest Region in Milwaukee to take on 14th-seeded Northern Colorado. It would take on the winner of No. 6 Memphis or the 11 seed that emerges from the First Four. Houston and Florida are the top two seeds in the region.

SB Nation’s Chris Dobbertran

The SB Nation projection has Michigan as a No. 4 seed in the Midwest Region, opening its slate out in Denver against No. 13 Lipscomb. It would play either No. 5 seed Missouri or No. 12 McNeese in the second round. The top three seeds in the region are Houston, Tennessee and St. John’s, respectively.

Sporting News’ Bill Bender

Bender has the Wolverines as a No. 3 seed, but barely. His projections do not provide a bracket or potential designation. The other three seeds are St. John’s, Texas Tech and Clemson.

Resume: KenPom 29, Net 25. The Wolverines had a three-game week that included close victories against Nebraska and Rutgers and a home loss to Illinois,” Bender wrote. “They have the lowest ranking combination among the No. 3 seeds.”

Fox Sports’ Mike Decourcy

Decourcy’s latest bracket forecast has Michigan as a No. 4 seed in the South Region, taking on No. 13 seed Akron in the first round. It would play the winner of No. 5 Arizona vs. No. 12 McNeese. The top three seeds in the region are Auburn, Florida, and Wisconsin.
