Michigan Wolverines basketball saw two of its players — wing Caleb Houstan and forward Moussa Diabate — get selected in the 2022 NBA Draft. The duo became Michigan’s second and third one-and-done prospects of the 21st century, joining Ignas Brazdeikis, Houstan’s new teammate, in 2019. Prior to that, the Wolverines’ latest one-and-done player was Jamal Crawford in 2000.
Houstan and Diabate are also fourth-year head coach Juwan Howard‘s third and fourth draft picks during his tenure. He saw wings Franz Wagner and Isaiah Livers get selected in the 2021 draft.
Howard continues to keep the tradition of developing NBA products alive, one that he was a part of as the No. 5 overall pick to Washington in 1994. His predecessor, John Beilein, the winningest coach in program history, sent 11 Wolverines to the draft during his tenure from 2007-19. From 2004 to 2011, a span that included some dark days for the program, Michigan didn’t have a draft pick.
Here’s a look at more numbers to know surrounding U-M and its elite ability to produce NBA talent.
