WATCH: Dusty May, Danny Wolf, Vlad Goldin speak at Big Ten Basketball Media Days
ROSEMONT, ILLINOIS – The Michigan Wolverines are preparing for the first season under head coach Dusty May, who was on hand on Thursday at Big Ten Basketball Media Days near Chicago previewing the team heading into the 2024-25 season.
He was joined by junior big man Danny Wolf and graduate center Vlad Goldin, both of whom transferred into the program this offseason from Yale and Florida Atlantic, respectively.
May was part of a panel to start the day with Illinois head coach Brad Underwood and Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard in the morning before making his way over to the individual podium for a half-hour breakout session in the afternoon.
He discussed the team’s growing identity and what he has seen so far in practices.
“It’s been tough because we’ve had a few guys out almost every single day and it’s been minor issues,” May said. “It’s a cold here, an illness there, but it’s been good because we’ve got the freshmen a lot of reps… a lot of live reps in practice. The growth of Durrell Brooks in the last couple of weeks has been exponential. He went from a guy that was maybe a red shirt candidate to impacting practice every single day and looking more and more like a guy that could, could have a role this year.

“Obviously there’s a lot of time left, we’re still trying to put together the right combinations and until we have the group playing together and the nuances, it’s going to be hard for us to tell. So we might be a little bit fluid and liquid for awhile.”
