Michigan basketball forward Tarris Reed Jr. signs NIL deal with Randy Wise Automotive
Michigan Wolverines basketball sophomore forward Tarris Reed Jr. has signed an NIL deal with Randy Wise Automotive, the company announced Friday. Reed is the first U-M basketball player to partner with Randy Wise, but joins a long list of Wolverine football players to do so.
The nine Michigan football players to have signed with Randy Wise are junior linebacker Junior Colson, junior quarterback J.J. McCarthy, sophomore wide receiver Darrius Clemons, sophomore defensive tackle Mason Graham, sophomore EDGE Derrick Moore, sophomore tight end Colston Loveland, sophomore linebacker Jimmy Rolder, junior running back Tavierre Dunlap and sophomore kicker/punter Tommy Doman.
The automotive group will team up with Reed on “various marketing and charitable ventures over the course of the next two years,” according to a press release. He will also receive a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

“Since the growth of their NIL partnership with Valiant, Randy Wise and Michigan football teamed up in July of 2022 to volunteer their efforts with the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint and United Way of Genesee County. In addition, Randy Wise has made a charitable donation to J.J.’s For The Kids Foundation,” the release continued.
“The Randy Wise Team is excited to continue its NIL efforts with the University of Michigan! “The NIL rule change has opened up great opportunities for college athletes from all over the country. I am excited to align myself with a great family owned Michigan brand,” said Jared Wangler, owner of Valiant Management Group.
Reed, a 6-foot-10, 260-pounder out of St. Louis, Mo., is expected to start at center for Michigan this coming season. The former four-star recruit backed up at the power forward and center spots a year ago, playing in 34 games and averaging 12.6 minutes per contest. He registered 3.4 points and 3.9 rebounds per game, while shooting 51.7 percent from the field (all two-pointers).
Reed made a big impact in Michigan’s 84-72 win over Michigan State. He scored 8 points, adding 10 rebounds, and shot 3-of-5 from the field. The next game, at Rutgers, Reed played stellar defense and totaled 2 points and 4 rebounds.
