ANN ARBOR – The Michigan Wolverines have a rivalry showdown with Ohio State on Sunday, which kicks off a week where both primary foes are on the schedule. The Buckeyes have been up and down this season, but are still dangerous and will test U-M in its road trip to Columbus.

”I just think understanding that these road environments in the Big Ten are as elite as any,” assistant coach Justin Joyner said during a Friday press conference on keys to winning the game. “And just being able to compartmentalize kind of what’s important and the things that win games.”

“I think a lot of people like to talk about how you shoot the ball and obviously the things like your turnovers and your assists and all the things that go into winning. Understanding that the hard things win games, your ability to be really tough and your ability to have great composure, your ability to rebound the ball and do the things that, from a scouting report perspective, help you win games.

“The maturity level after [the loss to Purdue on Jan. 24] for sure is kind of seeped into our locker room and guys have taken it to heart.”

Joyner and Michigan players Roddy Gayle Jr., who makes his return to Ohio State after transferring last spring, and Nimari Burnett all broke down the game and what’s ahead on Friday. Their media sessions can be viewed in full below.

Sunday’s game tips off at 1 p.m. ET and will be broadcast nationally via CBS.

Junior forward Roddy Gayle Jr.

On returning to Ohio State: “I know that this is an opportunity for me to go back to Columbus and perform, especially with how I felt like I was treated after I made the decision to come [to Michigan]. For me, it’s more about bragging rights, to be able to play against some of my best friends. Hopefully, we can get a W.”

Graduate guard Nimari Burnett

On the Ohio State rivalry: “ I was at Alabama playing against Auburn and it was kind of like that. But [road games at MSU and OSU last year] felt even more of like a hatred, especially playing on the road against those teams. So something that I’m always looking forward to. I’m always looking for a bit more fuel than we already have coming into games. So it’s something to be excited for.”
