ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Michigan Wolverines head basketball coach Juwan Howard, sophomore center Hunter Dickinson, fifth-year senior guard DeVante’ Jones and freshman wing Caleb Houstan met with the media following the team’s 83-64 win over Maryland Tuesday night at Crisler Center.

The victory snapped Michigan’s three-game losing streak and marked its first triumph since Dec. 18 over Southern Utah. The Wolverines had dropped games to UCF, Rutgers and Illinois, but at 2-3 in conference play, have 15 outings to go and say they’re confident they can make a run.

Michigan Head Coach Juwan Howard

Howard was pleased with his team’s showing, saying it built off the effort it put forth in the loss at Illinois on Friday and noting that being at nearly full strength is a big boost. He discussed what Dickinson’s presence meant to the offense, what Houstan’s demeanor has been during a rough stretch and how nice it was to see him break out of his slump and much more.

Wolverine Center Hunter Dickinson

Dickinson missed the last game at Illinois due to conditioning and stamina concerns on the heels of his positive COVID-19 test the prior Friday night. He returned and posted 21 points, six assists and six rebounds to lead Michigan to victory. The performance marked the Wooden Award watch list honoree’s fifth 20-plus point outing of the season.

Dickinson discussed being a “game-time decision” but playing a team-high 30 minutes, what his teammates gave him on a red-hot shooting night and more.

Michigan Guard DeVante’ Jones

Jones was one of four Michigan players to score in double figures. He put up 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the floor and 2-of-5 from long range, while adding four assists and three rebounds with two turnovers. He discussed how much easier running the offense was with Dickinson back in the lineup and Houstan making shots, and much more.

Wolverine Wing Caleb Houstan

Houstan just endured a five-game stretch where he made just two threes, but came out of his slump Tuesday night, knocking down three triples on four attempts, marking his fourth game of the season with three or more made shots from beyond the arc. He discussed his confidence over the last month-plus, the team’s overall performance and more.
