TheWolverine.com’s John Borton and Tom Crawford discuss the Juwan Howard situation at Michigan and if the suspension was enough, further fallout, a look at spring football and more.

Howard will be suspended for the rest of the Michigan basketball season in addition to a $40,000 fine. Players Moussa Diabate and Terrance Williams are suspended one game and will miss the contest vs. Rutgers. Crawford reacted to the shocking events from over the weekend.

“It was a one-sided loss to Wisconsin,” he said. “Usually Michigan plays Wisconsin tough and doesn’t beat them. It unraveled in the second half for the Wolverines and truly unraveled at the end of the game. This could be one of those galvanizing and turning point moments for Juwan Howard if he looks in the mirror and self-scouts himself and how he can make himself better. Anger management might need to be part of that. He’s an emotional guy and we saw that day one at the presser. You have to control those emotions.”

“In a nutshell, the penalties seemed appropriate. I was fearing it would go all the way through Big Ten play and beyond. I think it is fitting as well as the three player suspensions. [Wisconsin assistant Joe] Krabbenhoft getting off with nothing was annoying. Greg Gard getting $10,000? That was ridiculous. Others were appalled by that as well. Move on, learn from it, and see what happens tomorrow night with Phil Martelli coaching the next five games.”
