Newsstand: Juwan Howard's wife clears the air on NBA reports, desire to stay at Michigan
Tweets Of The Day
Michigan Wolverines basketball head coach Juwan Howard‘s name has been floated out as a potential candidate for the Los Angeles Lakers head-coaching job in recent days since Frank Vogel was let go. While there hasn’t been any indication that Howard, who will have two sons on the Wolverines’ roster next season, is interested, it’s been a topic of discussion among the fan base.
A Tuesday report from the Los Angeles Times said that Howard might be on the Lakers’ list, but the Michigan coach is more interested in coaching his sons with the Wolverines. That news made Michigan fans happy, but the sentiment from the report that he only wants to coach his sons isn’t accurate, his wife, Jenine Howard, wrote in a tweet.

“I also with they would stop making it about ‘his sons,’ Jenine Howard tweeted. “He is excited to coach EVERY kid here. He wants to win a championship. That’s the focus.”
Speaking of Howard, he’s been hard at work on the recruiting trail, having been on the road last weekend for the first few days of the April live period. Michigan doesn’t currently hold any commitments for the class of 2023, but the Wolverines’ staff is monitoring several recruits, including five-star combo guard Marvel Allen, the No. 20 overall player on the On3 Consensus and a teammate of 2022 Michigan signee Gregg Glenn III. Allen decommitted from LSU following the firing of head coach Will Wade and is open to other suitors.
Allen named Michigan as one of the schools coming after him the hardest.
