Michigan basketball has another huge game on the docket ahead in hopes it can put together an NCAA Tournament resume. The challenge ahead comes in the form of the Michigan State Spartans and it will feature a different look.

The Wolverines announced Monday they would be wearing an alternate uniform combo for Tuesday night’s game. Michigan will debut a 1989 throwback jersey that goes hand-in-hand with the Maize Out atmosphere planned for the contest.

Michigan needs a victory in the worst way on Tuesday. They are attempting to put together an NCAA Tournament resume worthy of consideration, but it likely requires wins in two of the next three games and a victory in the Big Ten Tournament. Any combination of three wins might get it done, but the game against the Spartans provides another shot to build.

The Spartans took the first game of the season by a score of 83-67 in East Lansing on Jan. 29. MSU snapped a three-game losing streak over the weekend in a home win over Purdue.

Vegas has Michigan as a 4.5-point favorite heading into the showdown, which is set for 8:30 p.m. ET from Crisler Center. The game will be televised via FOX Sports 1.

Michigan quote of the day

“You’re playing for more than just your team, and I think that’s a neat thing, I really do. I do think these rivalries are healthy. We know that some of these rivalries throughout the country, they’re not healthy…anybody out there, they’ve gone in the backyard and they’ve played tackle football against their brother, or their cousin, or the kid across the street who they consider like a brother. And man, nobody wants to lose that one. Because it’s more than a loss. It stays with you.”
