Michigan basketball appears to be in line to get a visit from one of its top transfer portal targets as it continues to reshape its roster. The expectation is that former Tennessee forward Olivier Nkamhoua will make his way to Ann Arbor for a visit on the weekend of June 2.

Nkamhoua would fill a void for Michigan at the power forward spot, averaging 10.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists last season with the Vols. On3’s Transfer Portal rankings have him as the No. 37 overall prospect in the 2023 cycle.

Michigan and Nkamhoua have been in contact the most among the targets currently on the board. For a bit, it seemed that he was a near-lock to join the program. However, the former Tennessee star has been exploring all options when it comes to his future, which could also potentially include pro basketball.

The Wolverines feel good about where they stand with him if he chooses to play college basketball next season, and Nkamhoua would be a major upgrade at the power forward spot compared to the last few seasons. He has a visit looming to West Virginia this weekend, potentially considered the favorite to land him, and other teams have been in contact and in the mix.

Michigan has also been in contact with former Toledo guard RayJ Dennis of late as it seeks to rework its backcourt. It was set to add North Carolina guard Caleb Love, who committed to U-M in April but backed out of his pledge due to an admissions issue. The Wolverines currently have two scholarship ball handlers on the roster in sophomore Dug McDaniel and graduate Jaelin Llewellyn, who was granted an extra season of eligibility after tearing his ACL early in the 2022-23 campaign.

The Wolverines have three available scholarships for next season after the departures of freshman wing Jett Howard (NBA Draft), sophomore guard Kobe Bufkin (NBA Draft), junior center Hunter Dickinson, sophomore guard Isaiah Barnes and freshman forward Gregg Glenn (transfer portal) and the additions of Nimari Burnett and Tray Jackson. An additional spot opened after incoming freshman Papa Kante asked out of his letter of intent at Michigan.
