Wolverine TV podcast: Borton and Boesch discuss Harbaugh, Michigan hoops vs. MSU and more
TheWolverine.com’s John Borton is joined by Michigan radio voice Brian Boesch to discuss the latest with Jim Harbaugh, how Michigan basketball has struggled and can improve and much more.
The biggest storyline of the weekend on the basketball front is the showdown with Michigan State. Boesch sees it as an opportunity to turn the season around and show it is not over yet.
What Brian Boesch said about Michigan vs. Michigan State
“Ultimately, they have to find a way to start finding ways to slow down teams from outside,” Boesch said on the podcast. “They have to be able to hit some open shots when they get them. And they have to be able to go out and create a shot when times are tough. I thought they started to do that against Rutgers offensively, but then the defensive issues and Rutgers hitting a big shot happened. It’s why I’m excited about this game beyond just being Michigan vs. Michigan State. This is an opportunity for Michigan to change the course of this season. If they do go 0-3 in this stretch, that is going to be difficult to overcome.
“But if you can win this game on Saturday, that would be one heck of a boost. I think this team needs that injection of confidence. You can work on stuff as much as you can. The tale of this Michigan basketball season has been as they have improved some things, other issues have popped up. If they can have it all come together in a great environment against a rival and get a victory, that at least gives you hope. This team probably is not going to be ranked sixth in the country again this season unless they go on an NCAA Tournament run. It can give you hope that this team can flip the script and take advantage of the many Quad-1 opportunities on the schedule the rest of the way.”
