Michigan basketball recruiting: Signees continue to play well
The Michigan basketball four-man 2022 recruiting class could be expected to contribute immediately, and some are showing signs they could be ready.
Jett Howard, On3’s No. 33 senior nationally, is part of a loaded roster, but he’s doing his part. The 6-7 wing Michigan coach Juwan Howard’s son, scored 13 points in Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy’s 57-53 win over rival Montverde Jan. 17 at the Hoophall Classic in Massachusetts.
Howard, expected to play several positions at Michigan, scored 27 points in a 103-78 win over Southeast Jan. 24 and notched 16 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals in a Feb. 4 win over The Patrick School.
Point guard Dug McDaniel (5-10 On3 No. 90), continues to shine for Fairfax (Va.) Paul VI. He led the Panthers to nine straight wins as of Feb. 12, including a 78-68 win over Gonzaga (Washington D.C.). That one followed an overtime win at No. 7 Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha and a three-overtime marathon victory over No. 20 St. John’s (D.C.).
Per MaxPreps.com, the Michigan signee hit a number of clutch shots down the stretch in the fourth quarter and overtime on his way to 30 points.
The Panthers picked up a 72-65 victory over Archbishop Carroll (Washington, D.C.). Jan. 22. The future Michigan guard led the way with 23 points, five assists and four rebounds in the win. He scored 15 points in a Feb. 10 win over Gonzaga.

Paul VI was MaxPreps’ No. 11 team nationally as of Feb. 13.
Future Michigan big men shining, too
Future Michigan big man Tarris Reed (6-9, On3 No. 63) the reigning St. Louis Post-Dispatch All-Metro boys basketball player of the year, is shining on a team that was 26-0 as of Feb. 10. Branson (Mo.) Link Year Academy is becoming a force on the prep school scene and Reed has been a big part of this year’s success.
Link Academy beat Prolific Prep at Hoophall in late January behind Reed’s 16 oints and 13 rebounds going head to head with talented big man Adem Bona. He got to the line (eight free throw attempts) and went right at Bona for his points. He played only 18 minutes in the win but put up huge numbers.
The win streak came to an end Feb. 11 in a loss to Sunrise Christian, but through no fault of Reed. The Michigan signee scored 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting in a 74-65 loss at the 15th annual Heartland Hoops Classic.
Finally, Michigan signee Gregg Glenn (6-7, 215, No. NR) led his Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian team to a 16-2 regular season record and No. 3 national ranking (MaxPreps.com) as of Feb. 8. He scored 15 in a 74-58 win over John Paul II Academy (Boca Raton) in early February.
