Wolverine TV: Saddi Washington, Frankie Collins talk Michigan basketball's resurgence
Michigan Wolverines basketball assistant coach Saddi Washington and freshman point guard Frankie Collins met with the media Tuesday afternoon to preview the team’s upcoming game against Northwestern, discuss its two-game win streak and more.
Washington was asked if the team is feeling a new energy after winning two straight.

“Yeah, I think so,” Washington replied. “The fellas have maintained a good attitude throughout our ups and downs of the season, and it’s one of those things — you have to learn how to win on the road, you have to learn how to win tough games, you have to learn how to win in this league.
“Throughout enough trial and error throughout the season, hopefully we’re starting to turn the corner and trend in the right direction.”
Collins has mentioned that Michigan is becoming a more aggressive team as of late. The Wolverines were not answering the opposition’s runs with a run of their own, which became a problem, especially down the stretch in some losses. Collins feels like Michigan has made major strides in that area, helping lead to wins over Maryland and Indiana.
“There were conversations going on with the team and the coaches, because a lot of teams do that. But I just feel like all of us, we’re all winners, and no one likes to lose,” Collins said. “So when it’s time to figure things out, I feel like we all wanted to figure it out so bad that we just … teams were punching us in the mouth first, and we were not reacting the way we wanted to, instead of just having them punch us in the mouth.

“If we go and punch them in the mouth first, then we’ll be perfectly fine. And lately that’s what we’ve been doing, and it’s been helping.”
Michigan hosts Northwestern Wednesday night and is projected to win by seven points. The Wolverines will then travel to East Lansing for a showdown with Michigan State Saturday afternoon at the Jack Breslin Student Events Center.
