Fifth-year senior guard Eli Brooks and fifth-year senior forward Jaron Faulds were both honored before the final home game last season, but utilized their extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA due to COVID-19 this season. They were given recognition with the rest of the class, followed by a round of applause and cheering from the Wolverine faithful.
A team captain, Brooks has played in and won more games than any other Michigan basketball player, a mainstay in the starting lineup since his true junior season in 2019-20. He committed to play for former Michigan head coach John Beilein in the class of 2017, and played sparingly in his first two seasons. He averaged 1.8 points per game as a freshman and 2.5 as a sophomore, before taking a big jump in current head man Juwan Howard‘s first season at the helm.
As a junior, Brooks averaged 32 minutes per game, along with 10.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and two assists. He posted 9.5 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per outing last season, and entered Thursday night with 11.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists per contest for this year. Brooks’ signature performance was a 21-point outing in last season’s round of 32 against LSU, helping Michigan to its fourth straight Sweet 16. Brooks has had several other big games, and is known as one of the top on-ball defenders in the Big Ten.
A walk-on, Faulds transferred from Columbia to Michigan in 2018. He has appeared in 29 career games, including 14 this season. He had a significant role in a loss to Illinois Jan. 14, playing a career-high 12 minutes.

Another fifth-year senior, point guard DeVante’ Jones transferred from Coastal Carolina to Michigan ahead of this season. Last year’s Sun Belt Player of the Year has started all 28 games for Michigan, averaging 10.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.5 assists per contest.
Two fourth-year seniors were also recognized pregame — forward Brandon Johns Jr. and guard Adrien Nunez.
A former four-star recruit, Beilein and Michigan plucked Johns out of East Lansing. He has played a significant role each of the last three seasons, averaging 3.9 points and 2.4 rebounds per game in his career.
Nunez has been a career reserve, but the Michigan coaching staff has raved about his work ethic and attitude, that shines through on the scout team during practice. He has played in 56 career contests with four starts, totaling 59 points, 14 rebounds and two assists.
