ESPN bracketologist Joe Lunardi place Michigan as one of the last four teams with a bye in his latest bracket projection after the Wolverines beat down Michigan State, 87-70 Tuesday night at Crisler Center. That means Michigan would avoid playing a First Four game in Dayton and would have a ‘bye’ to the round of 64. The Maize and Blue are squarely on the bubble still, though, and likely need at least one more win to feel comfortable come Selection Sunday.
Michigan takes on Iowa tonight, an opportunity to pick up a Quad 1 victory, before traveling to Columbus for a rivalry showdown with Ohio State Sunday, another potential Quad 1 win. The Wolverines haven’t won two consecutive games in three weeks, and this is an opportunity to gain some steam heading down the stretch.
Former Michigan basketball standout Nik Stauskas has been the talk of the NBA G League. Playing for the Grand Rapids Gold, Stauskas poured in 57 points in a win over the Wisconsin Herd Tuesday, with a league record 38 first-half points. He finished 11-for-15 from three-point range.
According to CBS Sports, the 57 points marked the sixth-highest single-game output in G League history, and the former Michigan wing also became just the second player in G League history to score at least 24 points on 100-percent shooting in a single quarter, which he did in the first, knocking down his first 12 shots, including seven 3-pointers, before his first misfire.

Michigan basketball associate head coach Phil Martelli praised his sophomore center, Hunter Dickinson, who went off for a career-high 33 points in the win over Michigan State. Dickinson was talked to by the officials for exchanging words with the MSU bench, and Martelli believes he was playing the role of a wrestling villain.
“If it does not work out in basketball, I dare any of you to deny me this fact: He will be a WWE villain,” Martelli said. “He won’t be a good guy. He’ll be a villain. He will sell a lot of tickets for WWE.”
