The Michigan Wolverines are off a bye looking for bowl eligibility up against the backdrop of anticipated changes and a high-profile recruitment on the football side of things. Head coach Sherrone Moore on Monday said that the team had spirited practices during its week off and is ready for the final two games of the regular season.

“Yes, it was buy-in week,” the Michigan head coach said. “We really took it upon us to make sure that we’re all bought into the next two games, to do everything we can to get better, really working on the fundamentals, the little things. Make sure we’re all in and every piece, no stone unturned, every T-crossed, every I-dotted to make sure that we’re in a great place and had some of our best-spirited practices. Came back from, you know, gave them a couple days off and they came out yesterday with fire, with energy, so it was really good to see the kids in a positive mindset.”

TheWolverine.com’s Anthony Broome, Chris Balas and Clayton Sayfie discussed what comes next for the Michigan program on this week’s podcast, in addition to basketball’s 3-1 start, the Bryce Underwood recruitment and more.

“But to me, it’s about making progress, program progress now,” Balas said on the the show. “And guys playing to their potential, offensive linemen playing together. I know it’s late in the year, but man, if you could put it together for one game and get these guys on the same page, five as one, as Sherrone Moore said yesterday at his press conference and maybe do something special… I mean, a crappy Nebraska team went to Columbus and nearly pulled off a win probably, with a better whistle, would have won that game.

“So, it only takes one, right? Say you’re going to win one out of a hundred. You know, make that the one. That’s exactly what Herb Brooks said to the 1980 Olympic hockey team. I know I’m getting ahead of myself here, but that’s the one I’m looking for, guys.

I am looking forward to that Ohio State game but you better take care of business because God knows the mayo bowl or the mustard bowl or whatever it is awaits as your reward if you do.
