ANN ARBOR – The Michigan Wolverines named their captains for the 2025 season on Monday, headlined by defensive back Rod Moore and fullback/tight end Max Bredeson as two-time leaders of the team after receiving the honor last year, too.

Joining them are four other players in offensive lineman Giovanni El-Hadi, tight end Marlin Klein, defensive end Derrick Moore and linebacker Ernest Hausmann, who were voted into their roles by their teammates this week.

All six spoke to the media on Thursday, but the Moore and Bredeson sessions made the cut as our clips of the day. You can view portions of their chats with the Michigan media below.

On his road to recovery for the 2025 season:

“I had the surgery in April and then went through rehab, and I got to the eight-month mark. “And I remember I had a torn meniscus as well… It was such a small tear that we really didn’t address it when I got the first surgery, but when I started doing my rehab again, I started feeling like the pain that would just not go away whenever I was striking the ground. And I think it was coming from my meniscus. And so it was either go get surgery again or try an injection.

“I tried to do a PRP injection and then that didn’t work, so I was just like, what else is there to do? I gotta fix it now. So now, I mean, the ACL is 100% good. I’m just working back from meniscus surgery right now. I’ve been cleared and everything, but it’s just a matter of how I feel and when I feel ready to go back on the field.”

What he said about rooming with freshman QB Bryce Underwood:

”I asked and said that I think that we should be roommates, and he was all for it,” Bredeson said. “I asked Coach Moore, and he said that was a great idea… I don’t know exactly what I was trying to get out of it, but I just knew like it could help the team being around each other every day.

“Everybody wants to have a positive impact on everybody. So I got a lot out of it from him, too. So it wasn’t all about me trying to be around him. A lot of good things came for me from being around him, too.”
