Michigan Wolverines football head coach Jim Harbaugh has “no ink,” he says, but will head to the tattoo parlor if the Maize and Blue win out and earn their 12th ever national championship.

Appearing on the ‘Inside Michigan Football’ radio show, Harbaugh made the vow after host and former U-M All-American and national champ Jon Jansen brought up senior EDGE Braiden McGregor‘s set of tattoos that tell his life story.

“Yeah, I’d consider. If we go undefeated, I’m going to get a 15-0 tattoo,” Harbaugh said. “Probably on the shoulder, and a block ‘M’ over it.

“I haven’t configured the art yet, but if that happens, I will do it.”

Jansen noted that if Michigan does win 15 games and the national title, the Wolverines will also have their 1,000th win. They’re only three away, sitting at a nation-leading 997. Harbaugh is shooting for 1,004.

Michigan has won the Big Ten and appeared in the College Football Playoff each of the season two seasons. It’s lost in the semifinals both times but is currently ranked No. 2 and expected to make another playoff push.

Harbaugh wasn’t asked during the radio show about the NCAA investigation into his program for illegal sign stealing and in-person scouting future opponents. He released a statement last week and said then he can’t comment further. On Monday night, however, he did make a comment on to how confident he how strong his Michigan team is, perhaps alluding to those outside the program doubting their methods.

The context of his response had to do with his tight ends having a big game in a 49-0 walloping of Michigan State Saturday night. The group amassed 186 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns.

“Yeah, they’re feeling it. They’re feeling it, too,” Harbaugh said of senior AJ Barner (8 catches, 99 yards, 1 score) and sophomore Colston Loveland (4 grabs, 79 yards, 2 touchdowns). “They know [Michigan junior quarterback] J.J. [McCarthy‘s] got the ability to put the ball into the tight window, and he did that with AJ. And then AJ, he’s shown J.J. that, just get the ball to me, man — doesn’t matter if I’m going to take a hit afterward. I’m going to make that catch for you. Just manly man stuff. And Colston, people can’t cover him. Same with [senior wide receiver] Roman [Wilson] — 2 more catches, 50-some yards, a TD. He’s just always making plays.

“And the two backs … it’s a good football team. I think everybody sees that, and that’s what it is. People want to say what they want to say right now, but I just see our guys to the mindset, it’s just a one-track mind at getting better at football and getting ready for these games.”

Michigan is idle this week and will host Purdue the following (7:30 p.m. ET on NBC).
