NIL has taken over college football recruiting. Whether you agree or disagree with it, NIL isn’t going anywhere any time soon.

Top prospects like four-star Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic defensive back Jordan Thomas are taking full advantage of the new landscape — even before graduation.

Thomas inked his first NIL deal this week, signing with Carnivor, the world’s No. 1 selling beef protein isolate.

“It’s a blessing,” Thomas said. “I heard about it when I went down to the Nike Next Ones event. It’s a dream come true. I’m lost for words. It’s great to have an organization like this be one of my first supporters. I’m excited to build this relationship. It’s a pivotal move with the protein. It’s going to keep me going and help me with my workouts.”

The deal was facilitated by Latish Kinsler, a former NFL player who is now the President of Football Operations at LifeStyle Sports Agency.

“It’s something that has been in the works for a couple of weeks,” Kinsler said. “We wanted to find the perfect fit for Jordan to be a brand ambassador. Carnivor is something we feel like will help his performance. It’s indicative of his work ethic. I think it’s a perfect fit for Jordan NIL wise.”

According to the Muscle Meds website, Carnivor’s beef protein isolate is even 350 percent more concentrated in anabolic muscle building aminos than a prime sirloin steak. It is also sugar-free, fat-free, lactose-free and cholesterol-free.

Thomas is a highly touted recruit, but he also takes pride in putting in extra work on his own time. When he’s not with his teammates at powerhouse Bergen Catholic, he’s getting in personal training in nearby Metuchen, New Jersey.

Thomas’ drive and determination made him the ideal fit for Carnivor.

“Just watching him on the field, your eyes go right to him,” said Muscle Meds CEO Gerard Denti. “He’s the fastest player on the field. What he does off the field really caught our eye. He’s a really hard worker and an even nicer person.

“It’s great seeing athletes representing your brand. We’re all still learning about NIL. But we’re really happy that Jordan is a part of it.”

While more deals are likely to come his way, Thomas isn’t letting NIL take over his recruitment.

Thomas, who is high on programs like Auburn, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Texas A&M, is still looking for two big factors — relationships and development.

“I feel like it’s important, but it’s not my main focus,” Jordan said. “My main focus is being developed in all aspects of life. I want genuine relationships. NIL is a factor, but I want to go somewhere where I can be pushed and challenged with like-minded individuals.”

Kinsler, who is serving as Thomas’ NIL agent and mentor, will be there to guide him along the way as he preps for a spring decision.

“Just understanding rules, laws and things of that nature,” Kinsler said. “Making sure no stone is left unturned in terms of finding out the nuances of things that change every day with NIL. Also making sure the opportunities he’s receiving are fruitful.”

Thomas won’t be the last high school athlete to sign a deal this cycle.

NIL is here to stay. It’s time to get used to it.
