Michigan has scored a key win on the recruiting trail.

After enduring a two-month commitment drought, the Wolverines landed a verbal pledge from three-star Kansas City (Mo.) Park Hill athlete Kendrick Bell following his official visit over the weekend.

Bell picked Michigan over an offer from UMass.

Bell is listed as a quarterback but has the potential to play wide receiver or defensive back at the level. The intriguing athlete passed for 2,267 yards, rushed for 313 yards and scored 30 total touchdowns as a junior.

Bell is also a standout in track and field, advancing to the state meet last year in the high jump. Bell, who self-reports a 4.6 40 time, also participates in the long jump, triple jump and 4×400. Off the field, Bell carries a 3.1 GPA.

Bell is the younger brother of Michigan wide receiver Ronnie Bell, who was also an unheralded recruit. Michigan offered Ronnie during his senior campaign. He was a former Missouri State commit and held no other FBS offers.

Of course, Ronnie has worked out well for Michigan and was one of Jim Harbaugh’s true steals on the recruiting trail. Ronnie led Michigan in receiving during both the 2019 and 2020 seasons. He missed last year due to injury but has been a top target for new starting quarterback JJ McCarthy this season.

Michigan now has 15 commits in its 2023 recruiting class, which entered the day ranked No. 25 in the On3 team national recruiting rankings.

Along with Bell, Michigan has verbal pledges from On300 offensive tackle Evan Link, On300 EDGE Enow Etta, consensus four-star offensive lineman Amir Herring, four-star EDGE Collins Acheampong, four-star running back Cole Cabana, four-star linebacker Semaj Bridgeman, four-star tight end Deakon Tonielli, three-star wide receivers Semaj Morgan and Fredrick Moore, three-star defensive lineman Brooks Bahr, three-star running back Benjamin Hall, three-star EDGE Aymeric Koumba, three-star tight end Zack Marshall and three-star kicker Adam Samaha.
