The Wolverine recaps positives & concerns from Fresno State game, Davis Warren's performance & Texas

The Michigan Wolverines have a lot to clean up ahead of Saturday afternoon’s showdown with the No. 4-ranked Texas Longhorns. A 30-10 win over Fresno State probably looks a bit better on paper than the totality of the game, but it was a step in the right direction regardless.

TheWolverine.com’s Anthony Broome, Chris Balas and Clayton Sayfie recap Sherrone Moore’s Monday press conference and wrap up their thoughts on Fresno State week before looking ahead to what needs to be cleaned up for Michigan ahead of the Texas game.

“Sherrone Moore doesn’t give anything away in press conferences,” Balas said. “He is extremely close to the vest, reminds you of Lloyd Carr in that respect. Jim Harbaugh, when he was in a good mood would give us stuff every now and then. If he’s in a bad mood, you didn’t want to ask a question, but with Moore, you’re getting the same thing every week and I don’t have any problem with that. He doesn’t want to give anything away. And he was talking basically about how he was most encouraged about that last drive. And so were we. You had to have it. That could have been disastrous fellas. If you go 3-and-out down there after you’re up 16-10, instead they put together the best drive of the game. That last drive to me was what we hope to see this year from these guys. That it took a little bit longer against a pretty good football team, frankly, is just what it is.

“The defense is going to be fine. The defense is going to be great, but they were on the field a long, a long time on Saturday night too. It’s going to be a much bigger challenge this week. I don’t think there’s any question guys that Texas is not going to be afraid to throw at Will Johnson or anybody else on that team. It’s going to be up to those guys up front to get a little bit more pressure. I think you’re going to see that. And Wink Martindale cannot be too aggressive here. You want when you were to see ghosts out there, but you got to be responsible too.
