Michigan football is still in the middle of its 2022 campaign, but Wednesday provided clarity on what the future holds for the Wolverines on the field. The Big Ten Conference released its official schedules for the 2023 season on Wednesday afternoon with U-M set to open play on Sept. 23 at home vs. Rutgers.

Divisions will stay for one more season before the dynamic is changed when UCLA and USC join in 2024.

Michigan’s non-conference slate had previously been set and includes three non-Power 5 schools for the second year in a row. East Carolina will open the season at the Big House on Sept. 2, while UNLV and Bowling Green will follow on Sept. 9 and Sept. 16, respectively.

Michigan will play four home games and five dates on the road in Big Ten play. The Wolverines will play 2 of their 3 crossover games with the Big Ten West on the road (at Nebraska, Sept. 30, at Minnesota, Oct. 7). Purdue will come to Ann Arbor on Nov. 4.

Other key dates include a road game at Michigan State on Oct. 21 prior to an Oct. 28 bye. Michigan will travel to Penn State on Nov. 11.
