ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Michigan Wolverines football is hosting its annual spring game Saturday at The Big House. The squads are split into two sides, ‘Blue’ and ‘Maize.’ Defensive coordinator Wink Martindale is leading the blue, while offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell is heading up the maize.

Live updates: Michigan football 2024 spring game

• Final: Maize 17, Blue 7

• 4Q, 1:29 — Alex Orji was sacked on 4th and 1 from the maize 4-yard line. Hayden Moore tagged off with the sack.

• 4Q, 5:59 — Davis Warren finds Fredrick Moore in the middle of the field and he takes it all the way to the house, outrunning defenders for a 48-yard touchdown. Maize extends its lead to 17-7.

• 4Q, 7:18 — The maize team turns it over on downs, with Benjamin Hall failing to pick up the first on both third and fourth and short. The blue has the ball at the maize 45-yard line.

• 4Q, 10:12 — Davis Warren goes deep and finds Kendrick Bell for a 42-yard touchdown. Joshua Nichols was in coverage on Bell. The Maize team takes a 10-7 lead after the Adam Samaha extra point.

• 4Q, 11:49 — The blue team punts after Alex Orji, back in at quarterback, sailed a receiver on third down. Davis Warren is back in behind center for the maize.

• End of third quarter: The Blue team is backed up at its own 10-yard line, 2nd and 10. Jadyn Davis is still leading that squad behind center.

• 3Q, 7:49 — The Maize team turned the ball over on downs with running back Bryson Kuzdal taking it around the end but not picking up the 2 yards needed. The blue team takes over at the blue 39-yard line.

• 3Q, 12:00 — The Maize team begins with the ball after fair catching the opening kickoff. Jayden Denegal is in at quarterback.

• End of first half: Blue 7, Maize 0. The Maize team, led by quarterback Jayden Denegal, executed a two-minute drive to get in close despite two holding penalties but Adam Samaha missed a 30-yard field goal.

• 2Q, 1:53 — All-time punter Tommy Doman’s punt went just 18 yards for the maize team. The maize squad has the ball back in a two-minute situation with Jayden Denegal at quarterback.

• 2Q, 2:14 — EDGE TJ Guy recorded the first ‘sack’ of the game, getting to and tagging off on Jadyn Davis.

• 2Q, 5:26 — Jadyn Davis is in at quarterback for the blue team, replacing Alex Ori on the second possession. Benjamin Hall is in at running back. Orji came back in behind center after three plays.

• 2Q, 5:26 — The Maize team answered with a score, but only a field goal (31-yarder by Adam Samaha; Tommy Doman holding). Quarterback Davis Warren had some nice completions, and Kalel Mullings some strong runs, but the Blue defense got the red-zone stop.

• End of first quarter: Maize has the ball and is driving at the blue 37-yard line after a 35-yard completion from Davis Warren to tight end Deakon Tonielli.

• 1Q, 4:40 — Michigan’s blue team punched in a touchdown with Alex Orji running 18 yards for a score. He faked the ball to Edwards, looked to pass before tucking and running through traffic for the score. Charlie Mentzer made the extra point to put blue up 7-0.

• Donovan Edwards had two nice, hard runs to start the game for the blue team on offense. Quarterback Alex Orji missed an open receiver, but he redeemed himself by hitting Max Bredeson on fourth and short, picking up a first down.
