Michigan football stayed hot in the transfer portal this weekend, adding another pair of impact players in former Stanford offensive lineman Myles Hinton and Coastal Carolina EDGE Josiah Stewart.

The proactivity in the portal has been a welcome change for the Michigan staff, who are not only backfilling 2023 roster needs but also adding potential starters to the roster. Given the struggles on the recruiting trail during this cycle, this has been a masterful use of the portal to add talent to next year’s roster. Every recruiting class has its share of guys who can make an impact right away, but the 2023 class may not have as much of that. Michigan’s run of adding roster talent in December is different than its hot close to the 2022 class last year, but might just yield the same results.

And plenty of indications are out there that more is being worked on. With plenty of NFL decisions looming, there could still be opportunities yet to influx the 2023 squad with talent.
